The mission of the UIC’s Regenerative Medicine Research Institute is to contribute to the development of regenerative medicine based on adult stem cell research. Their research aims to discover or improve treatment and diagnosis systems that move closer to alleviating the human suffering caused by chronic diseases and injuries. Their research team has established a protocol for the isolation and identification of adult pluripotent stem cells from dental pulp (DPPSCs) with a stable genetic profile and similar to embryonic stem cell phenotype. These results are protected by a Spanish patent, which is currently in the process of being made international.
