Dr. Sai Chavala, MD, is a board certified, fellowship trained retina specialist committed to providing compassionate care for individuals suffering from retinal disease, and treating vision loss through scientific innovation.
Dr. Chavala was raised in rural Missouri, and earned his bachelors and medical degree in an accelerated program at the University of Missouri within six years. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation; followed by a research fellowship in stem cells and regenerative medicine. He then completed a surgical retina fellowship at Duke University, widely recognized as the birthplace of modern day retina surgery. He later served for several years as an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina where he trained many ophthalmologists on the latest techniques of retinal surgery.
