Dr. Asmar graduated from Damascus University Medical School in Damascus, Syria in 1992 and completed his residency at Michigan State University in 1997. After his residency, he worked as a hospitalist at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Michigan, where he became established in the local medical community. In 2002, he established his private practice in Flint. From 1995-2005, Dr. Asmar was the medical director of hospice at the McLaren Health Corporation and Lapeer Regional Center. He served as the medical director of hospice at McLaren Visiting Nurse and Hospice, and was also the chief of internal medicine at McLaren Regional Medical Center. As a clinical assistant professor in the department of medicine at Michigan State University, he aided in the teaching of medical students.
