He joined Reconstructive Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine after practicing in the Cincinnati area for 12 years. Dr. Sammarco was raised in Cincinnati and graduated cum laude from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine in 1989. During that time, he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He attended the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio where he received his Medical Degree in 1993. Dr. Sammarco completed a five-year orthopaedic residency at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation and won the award for Best Resident Research during his final year in 1998. He completed a one-year Clinical and Research Fellowship in Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland prior to starting his practice in Cincinnati in 1999.
