Dr. Simkevich graduated from the New Jersey College of Dentistry in 1967. He served 2 years of active duty in the United States Navy Reserve as a general dentist. He was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal with combat V for his duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

After practicing general dentistry in Matwan, NJ for 4 years he completed the residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Connecticut. Since then he has been practicing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Rhode Island with University Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates, LTD. Dr. Simkevich is a Diplomat of the Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a member of the American Dental Association, and the Rhode Island Association Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
