Musculoskeletal Medicine is a specialty that incorporates diagnosis and treatment of pathology and injury of the bones, joints, muscles, fascia, and inlying structures. While Orthopedics generally involves the evaluation of the integrity of some of these structures from a surgical perspective, Musculoskeletal Medicine evaluates the whole musculoskeletal system from a structural perspective. It includes more of a global assessment of the system and the structural components that comprise it.
