Dr. Berit Fischer graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. After completion of a large animal rotating internship at the University of Georgia in 2002, she entered private equine practice in Wisconsin, where she discovered her true calling of becoming an anesthesiologist. She completed a residency in anesthesia and pain management at Cornell University and became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia in 2008. She joined Veterinary Specialty Center in Buffalo Grove, Illinois and helped establish their anesthesia department before accepting an academic position at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as a Clinical Assistant Professor in 2013. A job transfer has brought Dr. Fischer back to the east coast to join the staff at Animal Medical Center as Head of the Anesthesia and Pain Management Service
