Dr. Ivan Aksentijevich earned his Medical Doctor Degree from the University of Belgrade, Serbia.  After obtaining his training in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore,  Dr. Aksentijevich joined Virginia Cancer Specialists.   He currently holds the titles of Chair of the Department of Medicine, Chair of Medical Oncology, and Chair of the Blood Bank Committee at Alexandria Hospital, and is an investigator on several clinical trials.  His main clinical interests are in the field of hematologic malignancies. In addition to being board certified in both Hematology and Medical Oncology, Dr. Aksentijevich is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American society of Clinical Oncology.
