Dr. Peterson has been living in the Knoxville area since starting her undergraduate education at the University of Tennessee in 1995. Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Peterson fulfilled her goal of becoming a veterinarian when she graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Following graduation, she continued her training by completing a year-long internship at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in West Lafayette, Indiana.

She moved back to Tennessee in the summer of 2004 and started her job at Powell Animal Hospital, where she has been ever since. She lives in Powell with her husband and twin boys (born in March 2008), where they enjoy being part of a small community.
