Dr. Macina received his degree in Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. At graduation, he was the recipient of the prestigious American Animal Hospital Association’s Award for Clinical Proficiency. After an enjoyable year in private practice at Bull’s Head Animal Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut, Dr. Macina arrived at the Animal Medical Center in 1992, during which time he successfully completed a Small Animal Internship in Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Macina stayed on at the AMC and completed his residency in Veterinary Dermatology in the spring of 1995. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Macina joined the staff of Michigan Veterinary Specialists in Southfield, Michigan, building up and heading the dermatology department for 4 years. His New York roots would prove too strong however, and in the fall of 1999, Dr. Macina returned to the Animal Medical Center to rebuild what had become a defunct department. Dr. Macina has endeavored at the Animal Medical Center since, and has built the Dermatology Service into what it is today.
