I was born in Clinton, IA. I grew up on a farm is the oldest of five girls was the daughter that was always put in charge of the animal and livestock care. I attended Iowa State University and graduated in May 1982 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.

My first job as a Veterinarian was with Pines Meadow Veterinary Clinic in Oregon, Illinois, where I worked as a mixed animal doctor for nine years.

It was my relief veterinary business that brought me to Auburn Animal Clinic as a relief veterinarian for owner Dr. Raymon Medernach, who was very ill and hospitalized.
