Dr. Patrick Sullivan joined DMOS in 1987. Dr. Sullivan developed considerable expertise in hip, knee and shoulder replacement surgery by additional study in a traveling joint fellowship at several joint replacement centers in both the United States and Europe. These include the Charnley Institute in England, the site of the first modern total joint. He was also fortunate enough to have Dr. Richard Johnston, who did the first total hip replacement in Iowa, as a mentor. Dr. Sullivan has published several scientific papers concerning hip and knee replacement. Furthermore, he has developed significant experience and interest in the treatment of sports medicine injuries and arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder.
Through extensive, continuing medical education, Dr. Pat Sullivan has kept abreast of all new developments in hip, knee and shoulder surgery.
