Dr. Wietecha attended Wofford College and graduated with honors (Phi Beta Kappa, Biology Student Departmental Award) with a B.S. in Biology in 1974. He graduated from the Medical Universisty of S.C. College of Dentistry in 1977 as Valedictorian with numerous departmental awards. He entered the U.S. Navy completing a General Dental Practice Residency at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. He served in Sicily and Parris Island, S.C., where he occupied an Oral Surgery Fellowship position in 1981. He was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal and was Honorably Discharged as a Lieutenant Commander in 1982. He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Residency at the Medical College of Georgia in 1985 and returned to the Midlands to establish his practice.
