Simon Maltais, M.D., Ph.D., conducts research in heart transplantation, durable mechanical circulatory support, acute and temporary circulatory support measures, and translational-based heart failure research (stem cell therapy). Dr. Maltais specializes in minimally invasive cardiac interventions (robotic surgery) and has performed several surgeries on various conditions with these approaches.
Dr. Maltais is interested in how less-invasive approaches apply to the implantation of durable devices in patients with heart disease and hopes to investigate the application of stem cell-based therapy for myocardial recovery.
