Dr. Shamash completed his undergraduate training at the Binghamton University of The State University of New York receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He subsequently attended the University at Buffalo-The State University of New York where he received his Master of Science degree, while performing clinical research in colorectal cancer. He is a graduate of the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine where he graduated in the top 15% of his graduating class. Dr Shamash completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at thePhiladelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He served as the chief orthopedic resident during his senior year and received the Henrietta and Jack Avart Memorial award; given to the Orthopedic Surgery resident who has exhibited exceptional competency in Orthopedic Surgery during their training program. Upon his graduation, Dr. Shamash, went on to complete an additional fellowship in hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery at the prestigious New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center in New York City.
