Dr. Gooding was raised in Warwick, R.I., and graduated from Middlebury College, and Tufts University School of Medicine. After completing a residency in internal medicine and becoming board certified in Emergengy Medicine, he trained in orthopaedics at the Brown University/ Rhode Island Hospital program.

He finished a hand fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin and started his practice in Warwick in 1989. In 1992 he and Dr Yakavonis helped establish West Bay Orthopaedics with a goal of providing excellence in both general and subspecialty orthopaedic care. Dr. Gooding is board certified in orthopaedics and and has passed the exam for the Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery. His interests include injuries and disorders of the hand, wrist, and elbow, as well as knee and hip joint replacement.
